Since first opening our doors in the summer of 2015, The House Next Door has served 20 moms
and 29 kids - 6 of whom were born while
their Moms were living at The House Next Door!

Our Mission

The purpose of The House Next Door is to accompany and assist single mothers and their children as the mothers pursue appropriate educational degrees, in part, by providing rent-free housing.  It is our goal to help young women become successful and self-sufficient, and thereby improve the quality of life for themselves, their children, and the community.

Our GOALS

The House Next Door plans to continue accompanying each mother on her personal and educational journey.  We always welcome new partners and new strategies to help us best meet our families' needs.

We also hope to one day have an additional house designed for single Dads and their kids - so that Dads can remain united with their children AND have the ability to pursue their educational goals.

THIS HOUSE SPEAKS PEACE AND HOPE TO YOUNG MOTHERS STRUGGLING TO CARE FOR THEIR CHILDREN AND THEMSELVES WHILE STRIVING FOR A BETTER FUTURE.

THE HOUSE NEXT DOOR WAS IMAGINED TO
MEET A PRESENT NEED, THAT MANY HAD EXPERIENCED, FOR A COMMUNITY OF NURTURE AND ENCOURAGEMENT.

ITS BEGINNING WAS MADE POSSIBLE THROUGH THE GENEROUS GIFT OF MATTHEW AND KRISTIN MAGUIRE AND THE HARD WORK OF THE PEOPLE OF GRACE EPISCOPAL CHURCH. IT WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THE SUPPORT OF FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS SUPPORTING YOUNG PEOPLE IN THE COMMUNITY.

WE ARE GRATEFUL FOR YOUR INTEREST AND YOUR PRAYERS. COME AND VISIT ANYTIME!

What We've Achieved

  • We've housed and accompanied 20 mothers and 29 children since opening The House to its first residents in July 2015.

  • 6 babies were born to mothers living at The House Next Door - to mothers who would not have otherwise had a shelter to welcome their infants home.

  • We've celebrated with each mom as they have finished a semester, passed a class or portion of their GED, and as they have completed their program or degree! Earlier this year a mom became a certified HVAC technician and this fall another mom earned her Master’s Degree.

  • We have partnered with Northwest Nazarene University since 2017 for MSW interns, undergrad social work interns, and ministry interns.

  • We have participated in statewide fundraisers such as Idaho Gives Day and Avenues for Hope. We raised $4,000 during Idaho Gives in May and have a goal to raise $40,000 during Avenues for Hope this December!

  • In 2022, Beauty by Ashes sponsored several rooms in the house and painted the interior of the home. We added new hardwood floors throughout the main level of the home.

  • December 2022, kitchen upgrade: new cabinets, floors, sink, and a fresh new coat of paint.

  • July 2023, the Active 20/30 Club created a library/playroom space for the kids, they donated a patio set, stove, and organized the home for the residents.

  • September 2023, Lions Club Nampa gave our playground a fresh look. It was sanded, stained, and added new bark, and toys for the kids to enjoy.

We incorporated and became our own 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in March 2017!
